Seven directors appointed to the recently amalgamated organization

OTTAWA, Feb. 2, 2015 /CNW/ – The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced appointments to The Federal Bridge Corporation.

Ms. Connie Graham from London, Ontario and Ms. Micheline Dubé from Ottawa, Ontario have been appointed as the chairperson and the chief executive officer respectively, for five-year and four-year terms. Five other directors have also been appointed: Mr. Gary Atkinson from Wyoming, Ontario (four-year term), Ms. Pascale Daigneault fromSarnia, Ontario (three-year term), Ms. Diana Dodge from Brockville, Ontario (three-year term), Mr. Rick Talvitie fromSault Ste. Marie, Ontario (four-year term), and Ms Deborah Tropea from Cornwall, Ontario (three-year term).

  • On February 1, 2015, a parent crown corporation was established through the amalgamation of The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL); its subsidiary, the St. Mary’s River Bridge Company (SMRBC); and the Blue Water Bridge Authority (BWBA), another parent crown corporation. The amalgamated corporation will be named “The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited”.
  • The newly amalgamated Federal Bridge Corporation Limited has a mandate to provide the highest level of stewardship of the Canadian interests in the Blue Water Bridge in Point Edward, Ontario; the Seaway International Bridge in Cornwall, Ontario; the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and the Thousand Islands Bridge at Lansdowne, Ontario, and ensure that the bridges and associated infrastructure are safe, secure, efficient, environmentally sound and well-maintained. It is responsible for the oversight of these bridges including the provision of safe and secure infrastructure for the efficient transportation of passengers and goods and support of Canada-U.S. trade.
